Newsflash

Over the past several years, the world’s largest software companies have zeroed in on mid-market companies as a new “sweet spot,” a $140 billion market ripe for sales. But is selling business applications into mid-market companies the same process as selling enterprise software into Fortune 500 companies? What is it that defines these companies and what motivates them to buy business applications?

First, we need to describe this lucrative software market. For the purpose of this article, we will define mid-market companies as standalone companies or departments of large corporations with 100 to 1,000 employees. These companies face business complexities similar to that of a large company, and have an operational and transaction orientation.

Unlike large companies, which can rely on in-house IT departments or outside consultants to help with software purchases, mid-sized companies are characterized by a lack of in-house IT staff or infrastructure. For them, application complexity can be a big deterrent to buying. They do not have time for a costly installation process and complex training. Instead, mid-market companies are looking for software applications that are simple to install and that work straight “out of the box.”

Dumbing down a generic financial, manufacturing or human resources package for an organization with fewer users might seem like it would do the trick. But nothing could be further from the truth!

The business people who use mid-market applications value applications with domain-specific support for their industry. They want rich functionality that provides a competitive edge in their marketplaces. In short, they are looking for software applications that fit their business needs “like a glove.”

Reciprocal linking is a strategy that Web marketing specialists use for the purpose of generating higher search engine ranking and more site traffic. These are the original purposes of reciprocal linking. For years, reciprocal linking was an indispensable Web marketing strategy, until the reciprocal linking frauds came to the fore.

Why Do Web Site’s Use Fraudulent Reciprocal Linking?

There are some Web sites who claim to be a trusted reciprocal linking partner when in fact they just aim to outwit their so-called linking partner. Why do they use fraudulent reciprocal linking ? There are two possible reasons for this.

  • These Web sites want to have one-way incoming links rather than a reciprocal link. This is due to the fact that a one-way incoming link is more valuable than a reciprocal link.

  • To avoid participating in reciprocal linking activity with lower ranking Web sites.

These two are the most possible reasons why some Web sites have thought of tricking their reciprocal linking partners. What reciprocal linking frauds do these Web sites use?

Warning: Reciprocal Linking Fraud

Since reciprocal linking has marked its own worth in terms of Web marketing and site promotion, it became a favorite object for fraud. There are some Web sites who don't use true and clean reciprocal linking. They always try to outwit their linking partners by using any of the following reciprocal linking frauds and tricks:

  • Absent Back Link

One reciprocal linking fraud that some Web sites use is the absent back link. This happens when your Web site’s reciprocal linking partner asks for a link from your website in exchange of a back link. When you have already linked to their Web site, they won’t give your site a back link. Thereby, giving their Web sites a one way incoming link.

  • Hidden Link

There are times when some Web sites make your back link invisible to the search engines. They use JavaScript to hide the back links. There are times when your reciprocal linking partner uses the rel=”nofollow” attribute which makes the search engines ignore your link.

  • Redirect Script For Back Link

Some reciprocal linking partners use a redirect script to hide the back link pointing to your Web site. The back link which is supposed to take the search engines and online users to your Web site actually points to another page on the reciprocal linking partner’s site. This way, the back link pointing to your site is not recognized by the web crawler, making it a useless link.

Reciprocal linking still lives and is still effective in increasing your Web site’s search engine ranking and traffic, BUT only if it is performed properly. Don’t be a victim of reciprocal linking frauds and don’t be a reciprocal linking fraud user as well. This is to ensure that we can still enjoy the benefits of reciprocal linking in our Web marketing activity.
